Many people have been painting the exterior of their house on their minds when you remind spring. After having done so many years I found a personal favorite paint brand, Behr. If you’re thinking about a new coat of exterior paint this spring but can’t decide on the color consider one of these choices.
I personally went with Behr’s ‘Persian Red’, which is one of Behr’s standard paint colors, last spring after a remodel of my home. With flat white for the trim it fits in well here, in farm country. It is sort of the classic barn red look. I had a tough time finding the right shade, the first bought ended up looking salmon, which is a polite way of saying pink. If you’re considering the classic red barn look then Behr’s ‘Persian Red’ paint color is just what you need.
If you’re in a warm or tropical climate then you obviously want to go with a lighter shade of Behr paint for your home’s exterior this spring. While white is always a classic choice I find pastel colors to be far more appealing. A personal favorite of mine is Behr’s ‘Jack Frost 1437’, which is a great pastel blue exterior paint color. It is extremely light and blends well with almost all fairly neutral trim colors, I like it best with a flat white or even a lighter gray trim color.
Another favorite color scheme of mine, which went well in the winter months in my previous house in Alaska, is an off white with gray trim. For this I went with Behr’s ‘Frost 2057’ for the main paint color and added some ‘815 Pacific Fog’ as the trim color for this paint scheme. It blended well with the snow and was neutral enough to pull off summer as well.
An additional great Behr paint color for your home’s new exterior look is a personal favorite of mine; a golden-yellow exterior paint with a flat white trim color. My personal favorite shade of golden-yellow for this is Behr’s ‘Sungold C60-88’. The paint color combination looks great in summer and spring months while also blending well with fall leave colors. It is not too bright of a yellow to stick out in winter snow either.
Brown wood-like colors are traditional exterior paint colors for many different climates. My favorite one is a bit lighter, with a slight hue of red. Behr’s ‘DP-330 Redwood’ paint color pulls this off perfectly. If you want a traditional look for your house try out this paint color with either an off-white or gray trim, different shades of brown or reds can also be used as complimentary trim paint colors here.
